About this cartoon: Many citizens, and not just those below the povery line, live a precarious life, unable to save any money or buy a home. Personal catastophe may be only one illness, layoff or rent increase away. This of course does not deter Republicans in Congress from wanting to slash Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and other social programs to help pay for their massive tax cut to the rich.
